You Say Party! We Say Rave!

Not sure if you guys have heard of this act before. This is a Scandi techno act assembled by Turbo Recordings’ own Jori Hulkkonen. Jori conducts the action and runs the rhythm through a 707 while Huoratron, JD, Tin Man, and the rest of the gang twiddle away on a fleet of TB-303’s. This is one for the ages.

Our top 2 favourite DJs/producers latest collaboration. They are back with two new tracks. Avalanche and Lemonade. Both tracks are really sounding good, with Avlanache being a techy electro twister, and Lemonade sounding like an old school Boys Noize track. It looks to like these two have done it again.

Remember that “Stickin” track? Born and raised in Miami, Florida, SonicC started producing at the age of 16 when he wanted to make exclusive remixes for djing, he ended up becoming addicted to creating music and started buying VST’s, Monitors, and a Midi controller. Influenced greatly by his Latin roots he also draws inspiration from Hip Hop and Disco. At the young age of 17 SonicC is seeing his work being played by the likes of Laidback Luke, Diplo, Crookers, Annie Mac and other top djs around the globe. This is the boy to watch in 2009, sure to be a big year for SonicC.

In a time when the word “disco” is overused and misused to describe a whole lot of up and coming bands, it has become harder to find the “real thing” in this ocean of pretenders. Australian trio The Swiss, however, are a legit live disco band whose existence is based entirely on flavour and good sounds rather than attitude and nice gears. For the band, 2010 is a year of new beginnings. They have parted ways with Really Real Records and are now part of the Modular family. They join the ranks of other hyped artists such as Cut/Copy, The Presets or Ladyhawke, for whom they produced a brilliant remix that you can listen to just below…

The Swiss are cool. With their crisp and snappy drums that cause pregnancies, quicksand lazer-sludge bass, dizzy pops and flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life, this is what real disco did/does/should sound like. It’s smooth and catchy, chilled, but upbeat and most of all, danceworthy.

After working in the studio with Australian producer / songwriter Donnie Sloan (from Empire Of The Sun), the new EP Bubble Bath will be released on January 29th but you can pre-order the vinyl @ Modular. The single comes with remixes from Tensnake and Knightlife ensuring a sweaty night on the dancefloor time after time.

Rio De Janeiro’s The Twelves (João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira) make a stunning Essential Mix debut, cramming in over 60 tunes and featuring everyone from Mr Oizo to The Beatles! The Twelves formed in 2005 and have made a huge impact on the blogosphere with a series of remixes, cover versions and original tracks. They recently made their UK club debut at Snafu in Aberdeen and The Legion in London.

An hour long documentary made by Channel 4 in 1988 charting the club scene, from Hip Hop, through House, Acid and the wider dance scene.

If u guys have been noticing, we’ve been supporting NT89 alot. Most of his tracks often appear in our mixtapes and played out in our gigs. He’s our current favourite producer and friend. And of coz, recently he did an awesome remix of our Midget Gems.

NT89 (pronounced 1989) has already been supported & played by Erol Alkan, Tiga, The Bloody Beetroots, Congorock, Shinichi Osawa, Huoratron, LA Riots, Arveene & Misk and released several highly esteemed remixes & original tracks. With that under his belt in 2008 we see him accomplishing even more in ‘09. His popular remixes of ZZT “The Worm”, Zombie Nation “Worth It” and Tiga’s “Mind Dimension” killed the dancefloors everywhere & captured the attention of Tiga who loved it and decided to put it in his brand new album “Ciao!” in the japanese edition on Pias/Sony music. As The Bloody Beetroots studio assistant he collaborated on the realization of the “Smash your Stereo” cd on One Love / sony australia.
Not only productions, his live shows are really powerfull & eclectic, he loves to switch genres between techno, electro & dance. He already played on the stage with people like Tiga, Shinichi Osawa, Pink is Punk & more.
