Gold Panda is a London based producer making beautifully constructed pieces of electronic music, with a big passion for all things Japanese, having apparently sold a large portion of his huge record collection to pay for a Japanese Diploma. Using samples ripped from old records, VHS tapes and old 80′s video games found in charity shops, his tracks are very reminiscent of artists such as Four Tet.

22-year-old Peter O’Grady, better known as Joy Orbison, is one fine producer to watch out for. At the age of 13, he took up DJing and eventually moved into production, beginning with Fruity Loops-crafted 8-bar grime loops before shifting into headier territory that combined his love of house, disco, and dubstep with the atmospheric fuzz of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Josef K, and The Beach Boys. His single “Hyph Mngo” has become the forward-thinking dubstep/2-step tune of 2009, and it will be quickly followed by more tunes on O’Grady’s own Doldrums label, which he runs in tandem with partner Impey.

The xx are four 19 year olds from south west London, England, formed in 2005. They met at Elliott School, notable for alumni including Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. They were placed at number 6 in the 2009 NME The Future 50 list.Their debut album, xx, was released on Young Turks Records on 17 August 2009.Though the band had worked with both Diplo and Kwes. ‘xx’ was produced by the band themselves. The band has toured with The Big Pink and Micachu. Their single Crystalised was featured on iTunes (UK) as Single of the week, starting from 18 August 2009. The band is scheduled to appear at the 2009 Reading and Leeds festivals.
